ABOUT Beans For Sharing
A Coffee-Fueled Journey: The Story Behind the Beans
Well… Beans For Sharing… it all started because of an old retired guy, a pastor, a sermon on a sunday about using “your gifts” for the betterment of the universe… not long after, realizing we all buy cookies once a year… not because they are cheap, but rather because they are high quality and they support a cause that helps make our planet full of peoples, a better one… cookies need to be dunked! in hot coffee, chocolate, and all kinds of milks… we thought why don’t we provide extraordinary coffees for fundraising too, and give away 100% of all the net proceeds instead of just a little bit of the profits.
If coffee lovers want more, it can be ordered online, then the people can pick their very own charitable trust at check-out… so here we are, giving birth to organic-specially blended & roasted coffees that are hand-picked at peak ripeness, incredibly smooth, roasted to order… never warehoused… and can help fundraise for all kinds of school clubs, scout troops, bands, chess clubs, senior centers, shelters, sports teams, fraternities, rotary, wannabe school age musicians that can’t otherwise afford an instrument… we realized people like more than one roast so we expanded to multiple roast varieties, even a specialty peaberry holiday roast, we learned that coffee connoisseurs like to grind their own, let the coffee sit in a french press extra long, so we have accessories too if people need! then once upon a time a granddaughter who was an artist suggested we put t-shirts on teddy bears, and make them nighttime story bears, so that children everywhere could cuddle up with a t-shirt wearing soft teddy bear after a tough day… One will never see any of the staff involved in the BeansForSharing.com project driving around in some snazzy Ferrari Because we don’t exist to make anyone famous or rich… We exist only to promote things that have to do with Love, Kindness, Forgiveness, Generosity, Compassion, Honesty, and Self Control.
BeansForSharing coffee beans are shade grown. That means, BFS coffee grows under the natural canopy of the Rainforest. This patient, traditional approach produces a superior coffee bean, and also protects the habitat of the migrating bird species, many of which make their way to the Pacific Northwest in the Summer. The slow ripening of the coffee bean in its indigenous, shaded Rainforest environment results in a bean with a higher sugar content, more concentrated flavor, plumper exterior, and less acidic chemical count than other beans, + when hand picked at peak of ripeness you avoid what happens when a machine picker strips every single coffee cherry off the vine and the ICK flavor that can come from latent pesticides.
how we works
Our Working Process
Drying Coffee
Once coffee has finished fermenting, those beans must be immediately dried. By forming long, narrow, shallow rows of beans in the sun, and turning them over every thirty to forty minutes, the beans dry evenly and prevent any mildew from occurring, Many large open farms have cut down rainforests in favor of high speed production, and use other drying methods... BeansForSharing will only source coffees that are Rainforest Sustainable, naturally dried, and Organically produced.
Roasting Coffee
Mastering coffee roasting could take anyone a lifetime, Dan has been micro-roasting for 30 years and not a day goes by that we all don’t learn something new. The length of time coffee beans roast, the style of coffee roaster used, the roasting temperature, and the crop of coffee bean you start with, all these affect the coffee flavor. It’s science and patience combined.
Grind Coffee
We don't recommend grinding coffee in advance... spoil yourself... Grind it... dump it in your french press... pour on the boiling water... let it rest for 15 minutes while you prepare your breakfast... Enjoy such sweet, smooth coffee, it doesn't even need cream or sugar...
